• 学习计划及图纸；study plans and drawings
• 切割、弯曲、配制钢或其他金属零件；cut and bend and fit steel or metal parts
• 用（木头或金属）夹具固定焊接部件；make jigs (of wood or metal) that hold parts in place for welding
• 焊接零件；weld parts together
• 维修和保养设备和机器；repair and maintain equipment and machinery
• 根据指令构造金属物体。construct metal objects according to instructions.

在实际就业市场上，对钳工-焊工并没有特定的学历要求，不过雇主相对来说还是更偏向拥有一个专业证书的求职者。成为合格的钳工-焊工，你需要完成规定的学徒要求并获得以下资格证书：

• New Zealand Certificate in Engineering – Fabrication (Level 4)

在开始专业学习时，学生需要选择轻制light fabrication，重制heavy fabrication或钢结构steel construction方向。学徒期将受Competenz 监管。此外，驾照也是工作必须。

该学历为4级、为期1年的证书课程，不支持毕业后工作签证的申请，并且大部分并不招收国际留学生。

不过，在新西兰钳工-焊工这类技工职业在就业市场上十分有优势，主要受以下因素影响：

• 多数目前在职的钳工-焊工已经接近退休年龄，需要年轻人补充队伍；
• 目前的学生和学徒数量无法满足市场需求，供不应求；
• 部分钳工-焊工受更高的薪水的吸引，前往海外其他国家工作；
• 新西兰制造业需要更多钳工-焊工的支持。

钳工-焊工可以在诸多行业的商家和机构中工作：

• 汽修行业；
• 海洋施工业；
• 施工建筑业；
• 机械与设备制造业；
• 专门的工艺和设备制造以及维修。

有大约10%的钳工-焊工为自雇。

钳工-焊工的薪资主要受经验与专业方向影响。钳工-焊工学徒一般获得法定最低实习工资，随着经验累积和技能提升工资也会上涨，2年以上经验的钳工-焊工，年薪在3.7万纽币左右，资深的钳工-焊工最高可获得7万纽币的年薪。

钳工-焊工是新西兰移民局规定的坎特伯雷地区短缺职业，需要符合以下要求：

• 与新西兰学历等级匹配的4级学历，并且学历内容符合新西兰钳工-焊工4级证书要求New Zealand Certificate in Engineering Fabrication (Trade) (Level 4)；或者
• 拥有符合要求的、至少3年相关工作经验。
