由于行业规模较小，职位有限，艺术总监这一职位就业竞争激烈。在新西兰，想在规模不大的娱乐业里找到全职的、长期稳定的工作极其困难。大部分艺术总监以项目为单位签订短期合同的模式展开工作。每个项目的工作地点并不固定，因此艺术总监需要根据项目的需求四处跑动。
